This is a poem that I wrote about 5 years ago. I submitted to Poetry.com and was one of those that was published in their coffee table book. It was written about the time when people were arguing about terrorism and how some people who selfly proclaimed the leader of the free world seemed to know everything to make judgments on who were the terrorists, instead of thinking why these things happened in the first place...
THINK!
Why did we do the things that we did
Why would we do the things that they would
Why are we doing the things we are doing
Why did they do the things that they did
Why would they do the things that we would
Why are they doing the things they are doing
Our rights can be their wrongs
Our wrongs can be their rights
We live better with people who think
who may or may not think alike
What if we feel the wrongs can't think
What would the world be like?
We would then be living in the right
and no one should ever be in the wrong
How then will we know if we are truly right
as our rights can be so wrong?
Respect others as they can think
Their thoughts are true judgment of ours
Learn. . . as we think. . .

Maju dan Sejahtera
That's the new Wilayah Persekutuan flag, and here's the lyrics to the Federal Territory official anthem.. it's mine ;-)
The song was actually launched by the Agong at Dataran Merdeka last Sunday..
Maju dan Sejahtera
Harmoni
Wilayah pertiwi
Semoga
Sentiasa diberkati
Wawasan
Hala pembangunan
Sebagai
Semangat perpaduan
Wilayah Persekutuan
Maju dan sejahtera...
Maju dan sejahtera...

Bollywood Wedding
It's been soooo long since I last updated this blog. Busy laaa.... many things has happened since then and I'll try to update as frequent as I can from now on.
My brother, Faleigh just had a wedding reception last Sunday. He married Nur Renuka Shanmugam Abdullah. So, the theme for the night was of course... "Bollywood" maroon and gold. Here's how we looked like...
The wedding, just like any Hindi movie lasted till late and everyone was really exhausted and only arrived home at about 2 am from the Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur where the reception was held.
Weddings are perfect for us to meet relatives (like we don't see enough of them already.. lol!). It is always interesting to see cousins that you grew up with now having kids of their own... shows how far and matured we've grown since the last "main masak-masak" or "pukul berapa datuk harimau" or "kejar-kejar"... I didn't get the chance to snap a few photos with them but here's a snap of Rayyan, Arifah (my niece), and Sofea (Sara's daughter). Sara has here own fotopages at http://sarazinsm.fotopages.comThat's Rayyan, Sofea, and Arifah. I wish I could have more Rayyan's second cousins here but somehow they were busy enjoying the Bhangra dance inside the ballroom I guess.
I was made co-MC at the very last minute since the actual MC couldn't figure out who's who to perform the "merenjis ceremony". Yup, only at this "Indian" wedding we have the traditional Malay merenjis ceremony with supposedly rose water (tap water) and slivered pandan leaves drenched in somebody's perfume.
It was actually more of a dinner show rather than a wedding ceremony, hence "wedding reception". The food was good, the entertainment was good, but there were no Malay or English karaoke songs for me to sing while they were cleaning up the hall! Apparently the person who supplied the sound system were only told to prepare selected Hindi songs for the bride and groom to sing... sigh!
But Rayyan had a really great time that night. Forget the high fever and diarrhea he has been having for the last few days, forget the flu, forget all the Rota virus that has been attacking him as he ran up the stage and danced with the bride and groom...

I'm a Terrorist?!!
I did a search on Google and Yahoo for my name.. and it turned out that Sheikh Faisal is a terrorist! Here's an exerpt:
The preacher, known as Sheikh Faisal, is a convert to Islam originally from Jamaica. His audiences include Moslems from every ethnicity and background and his tapes are sold in many Islamic book stores, reports the Times. According to one of the Sheikh Faisal tapes, the Jews are evil to the core and, he instructs, in reply to an audience question if Moslems should beat Jews in the street, You have no choice but to hate them. How do you fight the Jews? You kill the Jews. In two post-September tapes, al- Faisal encourages Moslems to prepare for a Jihad and says, The way forward is never the ballot. The way forward is the bullet.
Haha... and there were some other "Sheikh Faisal"s out there who are prominent figures in the Middle East. I didn't know there are so many of "us".
And there is this mosque, the Sheikh Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan... named after King Faisal of Saudi Arabia... actually my late grandmother named me after the same king who actually was in KL about the time I was born.
Here's the mosque...
and here's a writeup of the mosque...
Sheikh Faisal Mosque is one of the most beautiful and big mosques in Islamabad. Located against the backdrop of the Margalla Hills, the mosque is an excellent architectural masterpiece.
Dedicated to late King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who bore the cost of the project, the mosque was designed by the Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay. His design was selected after an international competition in which many leading architects/firms participated. The mosque has slanting roofs with four towering minarets.
The mosque is a treat to watch with beautiful interiors. The Faisal Mosque is spread over an area of 1,89,705 square metres and houses museum, library and university of 700 students. The prayer hall of the mosque can accommodate up to 10,000 people.
